Programme guide · Melbourne and Victoria

How long does a steel frame package take?

There is no single lead time for every steel frame project. The programme depends on coordinated drawings, engineering and client sign-off, production capacity, transport and site readiness. FrameSet confirms the project dates in writing rather than treating an enquiry as a booking.

What happens between enquiry and delivery?

  1. Scope review: identify the current drawings, inclusions, exclusions and unresolved design information.
  2. Detailing and engineering: coordinate the panels, joists, roof members and structural steel interfaces.
  3. Drawing approval: confirm openings, heights, services and revisions before production is released.
  4. Production: manufacture and assemble the agreed package against the approved drawings.
  5. Delivery and installation: coordinate transport, lifting, laydown and the site sequence.

What can delay production approval?

Unconfirmed window and door sizes, late architectural revisions, unresolved steel connections, penetrations or changes to floor and roof levels can require further coordination. Tell us promptly about revisions so the price and programme can be reviewed before anything is manufactured.

When should the slab and crane access be ready?

Agree the readiness checks with the installation team. Delivery and lifting need suitable access and a place for frame packs; the slab or subfloor must be ready for the agreed stage. A production completion date and an installation date are different milestones.

How do regional Victorian deliveries affect timing?

Transport distance, load sizes, unloading restrictions and crew travel need to be allowed for. Give us the regional site location early, particularly when deliveries are split across stages.

What dates should my order confirm?

  • Drawing approval and production-release milestones.
  • The expected production period and delivery arrangements.
  • Installation stages, where contracted.
  • Site-readiness responsibilities and the process for changes.

Use the quote checklist and include your target frame date when you send the plans. We can then assess the requested programme against the actual scope.

Questions builders ask

Your questions answered

Does sending an enquiry reserve a factory slot?

No. Production and delivery dates need to be agreed with the order and drawing approval process. An enquiry alone does not reserve capacity.

Can late drawing changes affect delivery?

Yes. Changes may require revised detailing, engineering or production planning. Their effect on scope, price and dates is assessed before the revised work proceeds.
