Quoting guide · Melbourne and Victoria

What drawings do you need for a steel frame quote?

Start with the architectural drawings as PDF, the site suburb and the scope you want quoted. Structural drawings, opening schedules and access information help FrameSet resolve assumptions and provide a more complete itemised quote.

Which documents should I send?

  • Architectural set: site plan, floor plans, elevations, sections and relevant details, with revision numbers.
  • Structural set: framing plans, beam and column schedules, connection details and engineering notes where available.
  • Window and door schedule: opening sizes, head heights and any large glazed openings.
  • Energy report: insulation and thermal-break requirements where already specified.
  • Known services: penetrations, heating and cooling equipment, skylights and other items affecting the frame.

What site information helps?

Include the suburb, dwelling count, storeys, target frame date, access restrictions and available laydown space. Tell us whether the slabs and dwellings will be built together or in stages. For regional Victoria, provide enough location information to assess transport and crew travel.

How should I describe the scope?

Choose frames only, frames plus structural steel, or supply and installation. List any extras you want assessed, such as crane work, flooring, edge protection, windows or roof plumbing. Name any work already allocated to another supplier so there is no overlap.

Can I enquire before engineering is complete?

Yes. Tell us which drawings are preliminary. We can identify missing information and clarify the basis of the enquiry; the quote should state any assumptions, exclusions or items awaiting final engineering.

What should happen before manufacturing?

The coordinated shop drawings need the agreed approval. Check openings, heights, levels, frame-to-steel connections and service locations before sign-off. Advise us of later revisions so their effect on price and dates can be assessed.

Where do I send the documents?

Use our contact page or email projects@frameset.com.au. Keep the drawing revision clear and explain whether the enquiry replaces an earlier set.

Questions builders ask

Your questions answered

Do I need final structural drawings to make an enquiry?

You can start with preliminary drawings. Mark their status clearly; assumptions and missing information need to be resolved before a final production scope is approved.

Should I include both dwellings in a duplex enquiry?

Yes. Send the coordinated architectural and structural sets for both dwellings, with any staging plan, so common and different details can be reviewed together.
